The obverse side of 5 Pesos Mexican Cuauhtemoc Silver Coins features the Mexican coat of arms. The national coat of arms has evolved over time since Mexico’s independence in 1821. This version of the coat of arms depicts a powerful golden eagle perched on a broad cactus branch as it battles with a serpent. The design is inspired by the Codex Mendoza, an ancient symbol pointing the Aztecs to the spot upon which the capital of Tenochtitlan was founded.
On the reverse face of 5 Pesos Mexican Cuauhtemoc Silver Coins is a bust of the Aztec leader. In this portrait, Cuauhtemoc is depicted in left-profile relief wearing ornamental symbols of his status as the Emperor of the Aztec Empire
