Goldback Tracker Privacy Policy

Goldback Tracker (“the App”) is a collection-management tool for Goldback notes. This policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and what choices you have.

Summary

• Your collection data is stored locally on your device by default.
• We do not operate user accounts for the App.
• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
• Scan is in beta. Recognition may be inaccurate; always review results.
• Optional: you may opt in to help improve Scan by contributing labeled note photos (details below).

Information you enter

The App lets you record collection details such as states, years, denominations, quantities, purchase and sale prices, notes, and optional photos of your Goldbacks. Collection records are saved in a local database on your device and are not uploaded as part of normal use.

Photos (collection items)

If you choose to attach a photo to a collection item, the App requests access to your photo library or camera. Photos you select for your collection are copied into the App’s private storage on your device. Collection photos are not uploaded unless you separately opt into the Scan improvement program and choose to contribute a specific photo.

Scan (beta) and the Scan improvement program

Scan is an experimental feature that tries to identify a Goldback from a photo on your device. Results may be wrong. Processing for Scan runs primarily on your device (including on-device text recognition and optional local machine-learning models bundled with the App).

If you opt in to the Scan improvement program (Settings, or when prompted after saving a labeled sample), you may choose to contribute individual Scan photos to help train better recognition for all users. When you contribute:

• We receive a re-encoded photo of the note with location/EXIF metadata removed.
• We receive only the catalog labels you confirm (for example: state, year, denomination, alpha/non-alpha, artwork style, LER flag, optional serial).
• We may store an opaque random token generated on your device solely to limit abuse (not linked to your name or email).
• We do not require an account and do not receive your full collection, purchase history, or contact information.
• You control each contribution; you can turn the program off anytime in Settings.

Contributions are transmitted over HTTPS to our contribution service (hosted on Cloudflare) and stored for model training and quality review. We use them only to improve Scan and related App quality—not for advertising.

Export and backup

You may export your collection as a CSV file or back up data using the system share sheet. When you export or share, you choose the destination (for example, Files, Mail, or AirDrop). We do not automatically receive a copy of exported data.

Network use

The App makes limited network connections:

• Exchange rate — The App may fetch the public Goldback daily exchange rate from goldback.com over HTTPS. A cached rate may be stored locally for up to 24 hours. You can refresh or manually override the rate.
• Catalog content — Reference artwork and related public content may be bundled with the App or loaded as needed for display.
• In-app purchases — Purchases and restores go through Apple App Store or Google Play Billing as applicable.
• Optional Scan contributions — Only if you opt in and submit a contribution, the App may upload a note photo and labels over HTTPS to our contribution endpoint.
• External links — The App can open third-party websites you choose to visit (for example, our store or mintage chart) in your browser.

Normal browsing of your collection does not send collection entries to us.

Device storage

The App uses local device storage (including SQLite and preferences) to remember your collection, settings, Scan preferences, and optional local training samples. Deleting the App removes this local data from your device unless you have exported a backup elsewhere.

Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
