The refreshed Utah 10 Goldback pays tribute to the virtue Aeternitas, or eternity, illustrated through the 1991 discovery of the Utahraptor near Moab. Marking one of the most significant paleontological finds in Utah’s history, this event reshaped scientific understanding of raptor species. Aeternitas reflects the search for truth embodied by paleontologists whose work uncovers the deep story of the land and its ancient life.

The Utahraptor is one of Utah’s most celebrated prehistoric discoveries and serves as a powerful symbol of the state’s rich fossil heritage. Growing up to 20 feet long with massive curved claws, it was the largest known member of the raptor family and a formidable predator of the Early Cretaceous Period. Its discovery helped establish Utah as one of the world’s premier destinations for paleontology.
